Using the Course Approvals List

The courses listed below have been reviewed by the relevant academic department to determine their CU equivalents (if any) for degree requirements.

Key things to know:

  • Course approval does not guarantee you can enroll. Courses may be unavailable if:
    • They’re not offered the term you’re abroad
    • You don’t meet prerequisites
    • They’re canceled, full, or conflict with your schedule
    • You place into a lower-level language course than expected
  • Some approved courses may be worth less than 3 credits and may not fulfill posted approvals.
  • The course number and title must match exactly—otherwise, submit it for review.
  • Some programs publish course offerings only shortly before the start date.

To prepare:

  1. Cross-check approved courses with the offerings for your term abroad to confirm availability, credit value, and your eligibility. See the Academics tab on your program page for course offerings and credit conversions.
  2. Get at least twice as many courses approved as you plan to take, to allow for cancellations, scheduling conflicts, or other changes.
  3. Stay flexible about which degree requirements you plan to fulfill abroad.
  4. Discuss your course plan with your academic advisor before departure and update them on any changes.
