Non-Resident Fee: State of Colorado policy requires that non-residents must pay more than residents for CU Boulder credit. As such, Education Abroad program Fees for non-residents include an additional charge, currently set at $1800. The fee is subject to change and is used to suport CU Boulder Education Abroad. The fee does not apply to CU Boulder Global Intensives.

Items included in the Program Fee

Instructional costs, housing & some meals (with homestay option), field trips, international health insurance, and administrative fees to CU Boulder Education Abroad.

Items included in the Estimated Costs

Round-trip travel to program site, remaining meals, passport fees, books and personal expenses. NOTE: The cost estimates do not include personal travel.

Fee Exceptions

  • Students choosing options other than what is included in the base program fee will be billed by and payable to WorldStrides for those additional charges. By choosing other options there may be additional out-of-pocket expenses that are the responsibility of the student. For students who choose an Independent Housing option, your CU Boulder account will be credited. The adjustment will be applied to your account upon receipt of notification from WorldStrides.
  • You are responsible for an additional $95 deposit paid directly to WorldStrides which is applied towards the program fee.
  • Depending on your choice of housing, you may be responsible for a refundable housing deposit. The amount of the deposit will be listed on your WorldStrides housing form. It is paid directly to WorldStrides and will be refunded to you after completion of the program, less any costs for damages.
  • For students who choose to participate in the Community Engagement option in pursuit of CU credit, your CU Boulder account will be charged an additional fee upon receipt of notification from WorldStrides. Students who choose to participate in the Community Engagement option WITHOUT pursuing CU credit will be billed an additional Community Engagement fee paid directly to WorldStrides.

If for any reason you withdraw before or during the course of the program, CU Boulder Education Abroad and WorldStrides must be notified in writing. You are responsible for the corresponding withdrawal fee based on the date of your withdrawal. Any fees paid directly to WorldStrides, such as housing deposits, optional add-ons, or additional fees, are not included in the withdrawal fee schedule and may or may not be refunded by WorldStrides.
